Trenching In Windsor, Ontario
Trenching is digging a long, narrow trench to bury a line, such as hydro to a garage, a gas line to a barbecue or heater, a water line to a barn or irrigation across a lawn. We do the trenching to the depth the line needs, keep it straight and backfill it neatly. Every trenching and excavation job is fully insured.

Trenching details
Trenching To The Right Depth For Each Line
Each kind of line has its own depth. Hydro cable, gas line, water pipe and irrigation all sit at different depths, and some need sand around them or a warning tape above them. The trade installing the line tells us the depth they need, and we dig the trenching to match. Shallow trenching works for irrigation, while hydro and gas lines need a deeper trench.
For trenching, a mini excavator digs a clean, narrow cut and puts the soil in a neat pile beside it. That keeps the damage to your lawn small and makes backfilling quick.
Locates Come Before Any Trenching
Trenching crosses a lot of ground, so it is more likely to cross an existing line. Ontario One Call locates are requested before every job, and the marked lines are dug around by hand where the trenching crosses them.
Deeper trenching in wet clay also needs care. Once a trench is more than four feet deep, Ontario's rules require sloped or supported walls before anyone climbs in.
Trenching In Clay Takes The Right Machine
Windsor clay is dense and sticky, and hand trenching in it is slow, hard work. Machine trenching digs the same line in a fraction of the time and with straighter walls. In wet weather we plan the trenching around dry days so the yard is not churned into mud.
Trenching Pricing
Trenching is usually priced by the foot. Easy trenching in open lawn can cost as little as $10 per foot, and deep or tight trenching in clay can cost $40 per foot or more. Most trenching jobs have a minimum charge to bring the machine to the site. The written quote lists the length, the depth and the restoration.
