An Excavation Company Built Around The Site Visit

Precision Windsor Excavation is a local excavation company serving homeowners and builders across Windsor and Essex County. We dig foundations, waterproofing trenches, sewer and water lines, drains and driveways, and we grade and clear land. Our work is fully insured.

Every job starts the same way, with a free visit to your property before we give you a price. We would rather spend an hour looking at the access, the soil and the problem than guess at an excavation price over the phone.

About Precision Windsor Excavation

The Site Visit Comes First

On the site visit we walk the property with you, look at where the excavation machine can get in and where the soil can go, and measure the job. We take photos and ask what you want the work to fix, such as a wet basement, a slow drain or a yard that holds water.

The written excavation quote follows by email, usually within two working days. It lists the depth, the length, the trucking, the backfill and the restoration, so you know what you are paying for.

Locates And Permits Are Handled Before Dig Day

Before any excavation, Ontario One Call locates are requested so that gas, hydro, cable and water lines are marked. If the job needs a City permit, such as a Right-of-Way permit for a driveway, we tell you and plan the work around it.

We also coordinate the excavation with the other trades on your job. Plumbers, waterproofing companies, paving contractors and builders all depend on the excavation being done on time and to the right depth.

Safe Trenches In Windsor Clay

Ontario's construction rules require trench walls deeper than four feet to be sloped, shored or protected by a trench box. Windsor's wet clay makes that rule important. Soil and equipment stay back from the edge of every excavation, and open excavations are fenced or covered when we leave for the night.

Your Property Is Treated With Care

We know an excavation can feel like a big disruption to a home, so every excavation is planned to keep it short. Plywood or mats protect the lawn where the machine crosses it, driveways and streets are swept at the end of each day, and soil is piled neatly. When the excavation is done, the ground is backfilled in layers, packed and graded.

Homes, Builders And Small Commercial Sites

Most of our excavation work is for homeowners in Windsor, LaSalle, Tecumseh and Lakeshore, and every excavation gets the same care. We also handle excavation for builders, renovators and small commercial properties that need a sewer connection, a drain, a foundation or a graded lot.

The Excavation Work We Do

Each excavation service starts with a free site visit and ends with a graded, clean yard.

  • Deep rectangular foundation hole with a gravel base and straight dirt walls

    Foundation Excavation

Foundation excavation is the first job on any new home, addition or garage. We dig the hole to the depth on your plans, keep the floor of the excavation level and flat, and set aside topsoil for the finish grade. The excavation work is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Narrow trench dug down the outside of a house foundation wall to the footing

    Waterproofing Excavation

Waterproofing excavation means digging down the outside of your basement wall so a leak can be fixed from the outside, where the water gets in. We dig to the footing, expose the wall and replace the weeping tile, then backfill with clear stone. Every excavation is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Old clay sewer pipe exposed at the bottom of a trench running toward the street

    Sewer Line Replacement

Sewer line replacement means digging out the old pipe that carries wastewater from your house to the City sewer and laying a new one. In Windsor that pipe belongs to the homeowner all the way to the main. We dig, lay new pipe on a stone bed at the right slope and restore the ground. The excavation is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Rusted old water pipe lying beside a new blue water line in a trench

    Water Line Replacement

Water line replacement means digging out the pipe that brings drinking water from the City's water stop at your property line into your house, and laying a new one. We dig the trench, lay new pipe below the frost line and make the connection ready for the plumber. We carry full insurance on every excavation.

How it works and what it costs
  • Black perforated weeping tile laid in clear stone along a sealed foundation wall

    Weeping Tile Replacement

Weeping tile replacement means digging down beside your foundation to the footing, taking out the old drain pipe and laying new perforated pipe in clear stone. The new weeping tile carries water away before it can build up against the basement wall. All of this excavation work is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Gravel-filled French drain trench running across a lawn with drain pipe in the stone

    French Drain Installation

A French drain is a trench filled with clear stone and perforated pipe that carries water away from a wet area of the yard. We dig the trench at a steady slope, line it with filter fabric, lay the pipe in stone and finish the top with stone or sod. Our drain excavation work is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Skid steer levelling bare soil beside a house

    Lot Grading And Site Prep

Lot grading means shaping the ground so rain and snowmelt run away from your foundation. We cut down high spots, fill low spots and slope the soil away from the walls with a laser level, then finish it ready for sod or seed. Our lot grading and excavation work is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Long narrow trench across a yard with grey conduit laid in the bottom

    Trenching

Trenching is digging a long, narrow trench to bury a line, such as hydro to a garage, a gas line to a barbecue or heater, a water line to a barn or irrigation across a lawn. We do the trenching to the depth the line needs, keep it straight and backfill it neatly. Every trenching and excavation job is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Plate compactor on a new crushed stone driveway base in front of a garage

    Driveway Excavation

Driveway excavation means digging out an old driveway, or a new one, down past the soft soil, and building a packed gravel base for asphalt, concrete or pavers. A good base keeps a driveway from cracking, sinking or heaving. All driveway excavation is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Excavator pulling a large tree stump and its roots out of the ground

    Lot Clearing

Lot clearing means removing brush, small trees, stumps, old fences and debris so a piece of land is ready to build on or use. We clear the area with a machine, haul away what you do not want and leave the ground rough-graded. Our lot clearing and excavation work is fully insured.

How it works and what it costs
  • Excavator tearing down an old wooden detached garage

    Demolition And Concrete Removal

Demolition means taking down an old structure and hauling it away, and a careful demolition protects the yard around it. Our demolition work covers detached garages, sheds, decks, pools and old concrete slabs, driveways and walkways, and we clean up the site and leave the ground ready for what comes next. Every demolition job is fully insured, and so is the excavation that follows it.

How it works and what it costs
